Witnesses reported a violent incident in Boulder, Colorado, where a suspect, identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, allegedly conducted a targeted terrorist attack. The suspect was seen utilizing a makeshift flamethrower and throwing Molotov cocktails during the event, which coincided with a demonstration advocating for the release of hostages in Gaza.
According to officials, Soliman shouted "Free Palestine" while carrying out the attack, which resulted in multiple casualties, though thankfully no deaths were reported. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn characterized the actions as aimed at causing harm, stating, "a man was throwing Molotov cocktails and using other devices to hurt people."
Molotov cocktails consist of a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid, typically capped with a cloth wick soaked in alcohol. When thrown and broken, they ignite upon contact with a hard surface, creating a dangerous explosion of fire. The FBI and local authorities confirmed the investigation into the incident, emphasizing the serious nature of the attack.
Earlier this year, U.S. soldiers gained practical knowledge on constructing Molotov cocktails during a training exercise with Estonian forces, showcasing the potential destructiveness of such devices.
Boulder police confirmed that all victims from the attack are alive, as investigations continue into the motivations and implications of this violent act.
