Mayor LaToya Cantrell has made a formal request to the federal court for permission to travel to Iceland for a personal vacation with her family. This request comes as she navigates certain travel restrictions imposed due to legal issues, specifically her requirement to obtain permission from the U.S. Probation Office before leaving Southeast Louisiana.
Cantrell is currently facing serious charges that include wire fraud, obstruction of justice, and lying to a grand jury. She entered a not guilty plea during her arraignment last week. As part of the conditions surrounding her plea, she is required to forfeit her passport, limiting her ability to travel.
