Recent changes at Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel have led to the unveiling of the newly renamed The Studio Kitchen & Cocktails. This transformation combines elements from the former restaurant Aria and the adjacent champagne bar, Giggly, offering a refreshing dining experience.
Aria had been popular but lacked a distinctive identity that made it a true dining destination. In contrast, The Studio aims to create a more engaging atmosphere, emphasizing its art-inspired decor and a unique menu. The changes reflect a shift towards a complete culinary experience rather than merely a convenient option for theater-goers.
Although the previous restaurant was only six years old, the pandemic pushed the need for evolution. Guests previously favored menu items like the Big Boy Burger and the well-loved “Broasted-ish” chicken, which has now been removed from The Studio’s list, but there is much to explore here.
The atmosphere has seen some subtle adjustments such as a reduction in competing design elements, allowing the art to be more prominent. Additionally, The Studio maintains an impressive schedule with dinner served on Sundays and Mondays — a rarity in the dining scene.
Notably, sushi was introduced to the menu, with items like the rainbow roll and spicy tuna with crispy rice. While the rainbow roll is a solid option, the spicy tuna offers an innovative presentation that elevates the dining experience. It includes a spicy tuna paste, soy dipping sauce, and crispy rice cubes served on skewers, showcasing a delightful texture and flavor combination.
Other menu highlights include the Classic Big Boy Burger, still holding its allure, and larger plates such as braised beef short rib, fried chicken, and a seared tenderloin filet, ensuring a varied selection for diners.
As the menu unfolds, more tempting dishes await exploration, including Mediterranean sea bass and grilled rib-eye. With such a compelling offering, The Studio Kitchen & Cocktails invites patrons to indulge in a dining experience well worth repeat visits.
