Wisp Lounge has recently opened its doors in the revitalized downtown area of Sault Ste. Marie, adding a high-end cocktail experience to the local dining scene. Situated at 715 Queen St., this sophisticated lounge is the latest venture from the owners of Whiskey Barrel.
Christopher West, the manager of Wisp, expressed his delight at the positive reception since opening earlier this month. He highlighted the ongoing renaissance of the downtown area, noting the emergence of new bars and restaurants like Peace, OutSpoken Brewing, and Oja’s.
Wisp Lounge places a strong emphasis on cocktails, featuring a menu of 18 unique options priced between $13.50 and $20. West, drawing on his extensive experience from high-end establishments in Ottawa, crafted the cocktail selection. Among the popular drinks are the Raspberry Sour and the Smoked Peach Old-Fashioned. In addition to cocktails, the lounge offers a variety of beers and wines to cater to different preferences, with West stating, “We want to accommodate everyone.”
For those preferring non-alcoholic options, Wisp serves six mocktails and is open to crafting custom drinks with the available ingredients. However, serving craft cocktails comes with its challenges, primarily the time and effort required to ensure high quality while keeping customers satisfied. West praised his team for their dedication to this effort.
Moreover, patrons can enjoy custom charcuterie boards, choosing components that suit their tastes at different price points ranging from 30 cents to $6 each. Looking ahead, Wisp plans to host private events and is excited about potential public gatherings, with West hinting at more unique offerings in the future, despite the limited space for live performances.
Guests eager for updates can follow Wisp Lounge on Facebook and Instagram. They can also reach out directly at (705) 450-3004 or visit in person during their operating hours from 5 p.m. to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
