Following the fire that ravaged a significant portion of Cosse’s Place in May 2023, owner Mike Cosse has proudly reopened the popular New Orleans style restaurant, now larger and improved at 3601 Highway 90 in Pace.
Last weekend, Cosse hosted a “soft” opening, welcoming a wave of customers eager to return to their beloved eatery. It’s clear that the community truly missed it.
“People across the country have a fondness for New Orleans and Cajun style food. Here, we have many residents from Louisiana, particularly since (hurricane) Katrina…The cuisine is cherished,” he shared. “It’s traditional.”
Rising from the ashes: Cosse’s Place is set to reopen after a ‘tragic’ fire, but in an unexpected location
Dedicated fans of Cosse’s Place will be pleased to see their beloved menu items carried over to the new establishment, alongside some thrilling new options, including a liquor license.
“There are more seats, a liquor selection, and we still serve the best oysters in the area,” Cosse shared on Thursday, elaborating on the new venue.
Patrons can now enjoy a Bayou Martini paired with their oysters on the half shell, or savor a Bloody Mary during the weekend brunch.
Cosse’s Place will be open for lunch and dinner every day of the week, with a selection of brunch offerings available on Saturdays and Sundays.
The ambiance of the restaurant harmonizes beautifully with its Louisiana-inspired dishes, featuring an array of unique treasures that Cosse has either gifted or collected from Louisiana. Vintage posters from previous New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals adorn the walls of what is now the lantern-lit “Jazz Hall,” while framed New Orleans Saints jerseys complement Cosse’s handcrafted oyster bar.
A standout feature of the establishment is the inviting wrap-around porch, providing a lovely outdoor seating option for patrons on pleasant evenings.
Whatever you choose from the menu, the emphasis on fresh ingredients and homemade recipes is evident.
“We prepare everything fresh,” Cosse explained. “We are completely a scratch kitchen. Every item is made in-house, even our soups, sauces, salad dressings, and seasoning blends.”
The eatery serves up authentic Louisiana cuisine that brings a taste of home to its patrons.
“Cooking has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s just how things are done in Louisiana,” Cosse shared.
