The Fork & Knife Feast has made its return for a second consecutive year following its pandemic hiatus, and this year’s event shows no signs of stagnation. With local restaurants benefiting from the spotlight during typically slow months, the feast features an enticing array of bar food, haute cuisine, and everything in between.
Running until March 2, Cedar Rapids Restaurant Week invites diners to explore special menus from 19 participating establishments. Those eager to collect prizes like gift cards and other goodies can grab a punch card at any of the restaurants, then collect stamps by trying out at least five eateries.
Here are some standout dishes that catch the attention:
-
Crunchberry Cheesecake by Big Grove Cedar Rapids
This playful dessert evokes nostalgia with its creamy, soft texture that reminds diners of enjoying cereal milk. Its vibrant flavors merge to create a fun and indulgent experience. -
Achiote Pork Ribs by Lacayo
These ribs are a highlight, served elegantly on a smaller scale with rich pork flavor that melds beautifully with sweet grits, reminiscent of a warm breakfast dish. -
Moroccan Meatball by Pickle Palace
This dish captivates with a sweet and sour flavor profile complemented by herbs and fresh vegetables, offering a taste that transports diners to Northern Africa. -
Roasted Pork Tostada by Black Sheep Social Club
Combining tender pork with a variety of accompaniments, this dish is both vibrant and lively, standing out at the feast. -
Citrus Stuffed Pork Ravioli by CityWalk Eatery
Featuring delicate dough filled with a zesty pork mix and enveloped in a citrus-infused sauce, this dish is a refreshing take on comfort food, showcasing Chef Ryan Baker’s skills in pasta-making. -
Lamb Meatball by The Hip-stir
Well-seasoned and featuring a unique cashew dukkah topping, these meatballs provide a delightful flavor burst. They are surprisingly well-executed, despite some dryness likely due to being served in larger quantities. -
Thai Pork Sliders by Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery
Served on King’s Hawaiian rolls, these sliders are an explosion of flavors with crunch vegetables and a sweet, tangy sauce. However, moisture made the bread slightly soggy by the time tasted.
The event continues to celebrate culinary creativity in Cedar Rapids, making it a must-visit for food lovers eager to try new flavors. More details on the participating restaurants and their special offerings can be found at Cedar Rapids Restaurant Week.
