In a notable trend, breweries have begun expanding their offerings beyond traditional beers, catering to a broader range of customer preferences. Trillium Brewery, a prominent Massachusetts establishment, has taken this step with the launch of a new line of ready-to-drink canned cocktails. This initiative follows a substantial expansion of their distillery in Canton, enabling them to produce not just beers but also spirits like rum, vodka, and whiskey.
Trillium co-founder JC Tetreault explained that the decision to diversify stemmed from their desire to provide a full suite of bar essentials, thus enhancing their ability to craft high-quality cocktails. New additions to their product line include a canned rum punch, a margarita, and both regular and pink lemonade, all utilizing Trillium’s own spirits.
Selling these beverages at their locations and select retail establishments, Trillium aims to appeal to both its beer-loving patrons and those who prefer cocktails. However, beer enthusiasts need not worry; Trillium will continue to offer its classic brews, such as the popular Fort Point Pale Ale.
Additionally, Bent Water Brewing has entered the scene with a collaboration beer named Backstage Pils, exclusive to the Roadrunner music venue in Brighton. Profits from this beer will support ZUMIX, a Boston music nonprofit, reinforcing the link between community engagement and local brews.
In the world of doughnuts, Honey Dew has partnered with Vitamin Sea to create a vibrant doughnut inspired by their Pool Water seltzer, featuring a vanilla-blue frosting.
For those who enjoy cocktails, brews, and creative culinary collaborations, Massachusetts breweries are certainly stepping up their game.
