The New York State Department of Transportation is set to reopen State Route 15A near Myrtlewood Drive in Henrietta on Wednesday night, July 30. The road has been closed for refurbishments since April 1.
While the route will be open to traffic, construction will still be ongoing, leading to potential short-term delays. Drivers are advised to consider alternate routes and exercise caution, particularly in work zones, as fines for speeding in these areas are doubled.
Speeding Violations in Work Zones
If caught speeding in a work zone, offenders face the following penalties:
- First violation: $50 fine
- Second violation: $75 fine if within 18 months of the first violation
- Third violation & beyond: $100 fine if within 18 months of the first violation
Multiple speeding violations in work zones could lead to a suspension of the driver’s license. Violations captured by the Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement (AWZSE) program allow offenders to pay fines online, by mail, or by phone. The registered owner of the vehicle will receive a Notice of Liability by mail within 14 business days if they are a resident of New York State.
