Across over 60 restaurants worldwide, Chef Richard Sandoval showcases his passion for Latin American cuisine through his collection, Richard Sandoval Hospitality. In celebration of Día de los Muertos, he introduces "Sacred Moon," a culinary experience that honors this vibrant holiday with special menus inspired by the lunar phases.
The series will last a month and features a tasting dinner that includes three distinct dishes paired with eight cocktails grouped as the Lunar Beverage Collection. This immersive journey not only reflects the festive spirit but also intertwines culinary artistry with deep cultural traditions. Led by Chef Sandoval, along with Chef Giancarlo Sandoval and Head of Mixology Riesler Morales, the team collaborates with Casa Lumbre, known for its premium spirits like tequila and mezcal.
The cocktail lineup includes creations such as the "Lunar Goddess," made with tequila, ginger, and a special nectar combining honey and figs; and "Moon’s Embrace," featuring Mexican whiskey, bourbon, cacao liqueur, and rose water to celebrate the half moon.
Apart from the intimate tasting events, diners across select restaurants in the U.S. can enjoy the lunar-themed cocktails until November 3. Participating locations include prominent venues like Cayao at the Four Seasons Resort in Cabo and Toro at The St. Regis Kanai in Mexico.
Chef Sandoval also offers recipes for those wanting to replicate these unique drinks at home, including the "Illuminated Feast," an innovative mezcal cocktail combining flavors of mamey, pumpkin, and marigold. Another drink, "Living Spirit," includes tequila, tamarind, and a touch of black salt for depth, while the "Underworld Deity" offers a smoky combination of sotol with chocolate notes.
This culinary celebration invites everyone to immerse themselves in the vivid and meaningful traditions of Día de los Muertos, blending gastronomic excellence with heartfelt reverence. Enjoy the festivities with these creatively crafted cocktails that connect food, culture, and the enchanting phases of the moon.
