Severe Weather Warnings
The National Weather Service has already issued a number of winter weather warnings across these affected regions. Heavy snow is anticipated to create challenging travel conditions, particularly in areas including the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and along critical routes like I-81 and I-90.
AccuWeather’s senior meteorologist, Tyler Roys, notes that expected snow rates could reach two inches per hour, coupled with gusts exceeding 50 mph. Power outages may also occur, especially near Buffalo.
Expert Predictions
Dan DePodwin, AccuWeather’s vice president of forecasting operations, has cautioned that the combination of record traveler numbers and significant storms before and after Thanksgiving could lead to widespread delays and disruptions.
