PHILADELPHIA — AAA has projected a significant surge in travel during the upcoming holiday season, forecasting that approximately 122 million Americans will journey at least 50 miles from home between December 20 and January 1. A substantial majority, about 109 million, are expected to travel by car.
The drop in gas prices may contribute to this increase in travelers, with the national average currently below $3 per gallon, the lowest level since 2021. This reduction in fuel costs is likely to encourage more families and individuals to hit the road during the festive period.
