Multiple agencies in northwest Iowa are warning against travel due to high winds. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that the conditions in Lyon County are particularly hazardous, with blowing snow and extremely limited visibility making travel dangerous.
In addition to Lyon County, O’Brien County plans to close Highway 18 after reports of zero visibility and multiple accidents. Woodbury County officials are also advising caution for drivers, particularly those towing trailers, urging that if travel is necessary, they should proceed slowly and with extreme caution.
Emergency Management Agencies recommend monitoring travel conditions through Iowa 511 for the most current updates on road safety.
